In today's seminar we were asked to consider personal visual codes and create a pen profile. It was interested to really analyse my personal self and think about why do I consume what I do, why do I wear what I wear and to consider how I would categorize myself as a consumer and within society. As well as analysing a photograph of ourselves in an outfit we answered questions which didn't directly relate to fashion - 'What do I love?", "What do I hate?" amongst other questions such as 'What are my beliefs?". I think this task was designed in order for us to be able to identify with what it is within brands and their marketing strategies that we are attracted to and what makes a competitor. I came to the conclusion at the end of the session that categorising someone by the way they dress is a ridiculous thing to do... Just because you study Chemistry doesn't mean you have no interest in clothes or the fact that you study fashion makes you the next Alexa Chung. At the end of the day what you wear for the most part only determines how much effort you could be bothered to make in the morning and not the kind of person you are!
